Crew of the HvCFT Aggregator

The Aggregator is one of the newest ships in the Glitch Society’s fleet… in a way. It used to be called the HvCFT Mainframe, but the Cypherites, in an attempt to kill Captain Solarcode who had infiltrated their organisation as a spy, tried to sink it in the ocean by disabling some of its hoverpads. Their attack was ill-timed, and the ship managed to reach land, but it was severely damaged. The technicians in Zero-One repaired it and handed it over to the new captain, Procurator, who promptly renamed it.

Membership of the hovercraft comprises both old and new faces, following the loss of most of the initial crew. Wary of danger, the crew is determined to serve the Machines and bring down the Cypherites, thus securing the Truce and the stability of the Matrix.

As a reconnaissance vessel, the Aggregator managed to avoid open conflict for quite some time; until the fall of the Truce when Procurator decided to lend a hand in scuppering E Pluribus Neo’s efforts against the Machines. Although primarily equipped for stealth and speed, the ship is outfitted with a unique defensive technology that uses the hoverpads to generate a localised EM field around the hull, destroying hostile machines that come close. It was put to good use when the crew fled Stalingrad after a covert surveillance operation went badly wrong.

More information on the Aggregator, including its internal layout, can be found in Procurator’s journal.

Procurator – Captain, Chief Archivist

Procurator
Bluepill name:
Chris Tonks
Profession:
Duelist
Neuro-kinetic level:
50

‘Sometimes his charisma is scary, but that’s what makes him the trusted captain he is.’

– Campusanis

Procurator joined the ranks of Machine operatives as soon as he was contacted by Agent Gray, and has never looked back since. Within days of gaining his freedom from the Matrix he was recruited by The Glitch Society and skipped his Zion hoverbarge in favour of the HvCFT Mainframe, captained by Solarcode. He got on well with the crew, though by the time he joined there was a bout of abscedosis amongst the operatives and he had to run missions with the members of the HvCFT Abscissa.

An (successful) attempt on Solarcode’s life by the Cypherites left the Mainframe unrecognisable and without a captain. Having only days previously been promoted to first mate of the hovercraft, Procurator took charge and renamed the newly restored ship the Aggregator. He then made it his solemn duty to replace the lost crew.

In his Bluepill days Procurator worked for ZippiKode, a rival to the Metacortex corporation. His experience at legitimate programming influenced his decision to follow the route of the coding operative. He specialised in the creation of simulacra, and is very proud of his ‘pets’. Always willing to help his crewmates, and he can never say no to a few rounds at the local bar – even if it is a simulation.

Procurator harbours a passionate hatred towards Cypherites. He is unwilling to hear any argument in their defence, and some are attributing his stubborn behaviour and moments of insubordination to his prolonged confinement in the Matrix in an incorporeal state.

His most notable accomplishments include: the creation of a virus which allowed the Machines to trace Commandos escaping the Matrix, pinpointing the location of ‘Stalingrad’, the General’s base in the Real; infiltrating Wright Research disguised as a Bluepill and helping to destroy Danielle Wright’s plans for a new red pill design; being nominated for Machinist of the Year 2007. He has also led the Aggregator into several successful campaigns against the fleet of E Pluribus Neo.

Gookin – First Mate

‘It’s hard to believe that we’re still sane with this guy around.’

– Procurator

Gookin was not always the person he is today.

His bluepill life was spent working as an internet security specialist for a small security company. His problem was that he had an insatiable thirst for understanding. While scanning the net one evening his computer screen became blank. Text then began to appear on the screen:

I know what you seek.
The Matrix has you.

The young man’s mind raced. The Matrix, the very thing he had been hearing whispers about, the thing he had spent the last few weeks striving to understand.

Someone is after you. Get out…

At that moment a wolf type creature burst through his door. It moved to an attack position and was about to make that final, deadly swipe when, suddenly, its head exploded in a mass of red spray. The creature fell to reveal a strikingly beautiful woman, brandishing a pistol.

‘I’m LadyPandora. If you want to know the truth, follow me.’ Matt did as she asked and followed her into another room where she offered him a choice between two pills, the pills that those reading this know all too well. He took the red pill expecting to find safety, understanding and truth with the Zionite organisation. Gookin spent the next month or so working with LadyPandora in the Zionist faction 420. He found that something was wrong with the Zionite ideals; he had performed and witnessed mass killings of Exiles and Machinists, knowing all too well that it could not be right. He instead focussed his mind on duelling and became a veteran against people of his own ability. He decided he needed a challenge and approached a redpill named Verginia who just exceeded his level of ability. To say she beat him would be an understatement.

Gookin no longer had any purpose. Verginia could see he was troubled and asked him why. After he had explained his story, she invited him to apply to The Glitch Society, a machinist faction to which she, herself, belonged. Gookin did just that and was accepted onto the recruitment hovercraft.

To this day Gookin remains with The Glitch Society; he has worked his way through the ranks to rest at First Mate of the reconnaissance hovercraft – the Aggregator. He deeply dislikes the Zionites but has put this aside to maintain the truce and the stability of the Matrix.

Recently, Gookin’s past has revisited him. The lupine sent to kill him returned and tried for a second time.
The lupine failed, but Gookin has suffered more trauma since. At the request of Agent Gray, Gookin became a test subject for a ’new and improved’ form of the Unlimit code. However, the code began to take over his RSI creating an alter-ego by the name of Prolimit.

After almost 4 months of torment, Prolimit has been defeated and Gookin is back to work as normal. However, part of the code lingers. The only evidence being the change in colour of one of Gookins irises.

‘Quite the joker amongst the crew, but I think any of us would trust him with our lives.’

– Procurator

As a Bluepill Campusanis worked as a banker for one of the biggest banks in Downtown Megacity. He was a perfect Bluepill, one who did not question anything – at first. Once there was that seminar he was forced to attend. It was about some new technology and included how to handle a usual OS. But Campusanis got into it, at last more than he ever wanted. He was programming during every minute of his spare time, leaving no time for his family. His wife left him and took the children with her, therefore he fell into depressions and hid behind his screen. One day he heard about this thing called ‘The Matrix’. He had nothing to lose in his life and so decided to agree with the man who freed him at last and took him to Zion.

As a Redpill, Campusanis rarely ever came back to Downtown. Not only because the local Exile gangs there would kill him on sight, but also because he does not want to be reminded of his old life. He soon forgot about his never existing family and made new friends in Zion and the Matrix. Redpill friends.

After a few months of being in Zion, he realised that this is not what he wanted to do. He had good memories from the time in the Matrix, when he did not know that there was another reality. He remembered Agent Gray who contacted him long before and soon found himself in the favour of the Machines. He went for coding, because that was what he was able to do. Zionists of course treated him like a traitor and so he looked out for a group of other Machinists. When he heard of the first appearances of Ookami and Malphas, he was impressed by the efforts of The Glitch Society and after he contacted the former leader Olink, he quickly got accepted and placed into the Mainframe crew. He was shocked when the captain in those days, Solarcode, was assassinated, but saw Procurator as the right successor and new captain of the Aggregator. Since then, Campusanis loves his new life. His real life.

‘Sometimes I think Flare’s only wish is for the Machines to re-invent chocolate.’

– Procurator

Flare is a daughter of Zion, born some twenty years before the Truce. She was brought up to believe the same things all Zionists are spoonfed, but she’d never been too thrilled by the city’s almost religious devotion to the destruction of the Matrix. Her trust in the Council was shattered when a scouting mission – obviously doomed to end in misery, Flare was sure – went wrong. One of the two hovercraft sent was destroyed when it collided with the other ship while fleeing from the persuing Sentinels; her parents were killed in the explosion.

While not outspoken against the beliefs of Zion even after the Truce was brokered, she was known by the tentative Machinists hidden in Zion’s ranks to oppose the Council. During his first and only month in Zion, Procurator met Flare and ascertained her loyalties. When he was contacted by Solarcode and offered a place aboard the HvCFT Mainframe he invited Flare along with him, confiding in her that he would stow aboard the next outbound hoverbarge and await a stealthy collection by the Mainframe. She declined, wishing to bide her time further, and continue her training as an operator.

After the crash of the Mainframe and the death of most of the crew, its then operator took leave of the ship citing a stressful working environment. The Machines would have assigned the rebuilt HvCFT Aggregator another operator, had Procurator not suggested Flare. She was contacted and picked up, and after a brief time familiarising herself with the slightly different Machinist loading area equipment took up the job as operator for the Aggregator.

Flare is able to make occasional appearances in the Matrix by remotely controlling a simulacrum in her image, dubbed FlareSim01, which Procurator constructed for her one idle weekend. Its movements and abilities are limited, but it has given Flare the chance to meet some of the operatives and see some of the sights she hears so much about.

Skunkgirl – Navigator

Bluepill name:
Selena Skunk
Profession:
Hacker
Neuro-kinetic level:

Not much is known about Selena, if she was asked about her past she probably would tell you to mind your own business or simply "I can’t live in the past if I wanna see the present as it is".

Selena was awakened and told about the real by a group of Zionites after she saw what can only be described as a glitch in the system. More specifically she saw a librarian attempting to put the same book on a shelf over and over again, only to have a copy of that book appear on the floor next to her. A few moments later she heard a crash and people in nice suits and dark glasses with ear pieces on them rushed by her to take the librarian away. They turned and fired at Selena, she felt a push and was laying on the floor the next moment. Gun shots rung all around her and she curled up into a ball. At some point she must have passed out as when she woke up she was sitting in an office looking at a man in his mid twenties looking at her. He asked her if she thought the world was a lie or not, and being that she knew that the incident with the book had to mean it was, she said that she did. The red pill quickly followed and she awoke again to the real surrounded by a gel and was nude. After being ejected she was brought aboard a zionite vessel which took her back to Zion for a while.

During her time in Zion she started to feel as if these people were not like her, she was a quite type and they were loud. She liked to read her books that she found in a local shop and they would party all night long. A few months passed and Selena got bored, seeing that Zion had a connection to the matrix in the city via the treaty, she jacked into a local terminal and started to readjust to her new found freedom of mind. A few weeks into her explorations she came across a male, instantly she fell in love with him and when he asked where she was she answered truthfully. A week later a machinist ship docked at the Zion port and off walked the first mate. He asked where Skunkgirl was and was lead to her little quarters halfway across the city. Shortly after he arrived and they had a small talk, she packed up her things and left with him to the Agreggator. Months into it she went away for awhile to train at the machinist academy and train her abilities in ways they could only teach her. Upon returning she was offered a job as navigator and a ring, she is now happily married to the first mate known as Gookin.

She’s an odd but kind woman, looking at her you would notice her eyes are slightly different then your own, but the deepest green in color. Her hair is a dark brown with subtle strawberry blonde highlights running down to her shoulders when down, but she usually keeps it in a tight ponytail and up a bit. Don’t let looks fool you, she is skilled at her job and will not take any gruff from anyone.
