Apply to Join TGS

The Glitch Society is always looking out for promising new operatives to help us serve the Machines in maintaining the stability of the Matrix. However, all members have to adhere to certain rules (shown below) as well as guidelines detailed on the Guidelines page. These are in the best interests of everyone, from faction members through faction leaders to everyone in the Matrix.

Why Join Us?

A whole host of benefits await you as a member of The Glitch Society! Read on…

  • Meet new people! We’re a friendly bunch of people and we’ll be happy to get to know you. A friend’s never too far away when you’re in a faction.
  • Be part of a team! As a member of TGS you can rest assured that we’ll work together to solve the mysteries of the Matrix.
  • Get more out of the game! As an active, roleplaying faction there’s always something going on. Play The Matrix Online the way it was meant to be played.
  • Serve the Machines! We work with the Machine Civilisation for the good of both humans and robots. Do your part for the Matrix and the Real.
  • Make a name for yourself! The Glitch Society is a well established faction that’s been around since the early days of MxO. Being part of TGS is another step up the social ladder!
  • Get comfy! Our hovercraft are a lot more roomy and comfortable than anything Zion or the Merovingian operatives can cook up.

Application Process

  1. Fill in the application form at the bottom of this page. Make sure you answer all the questions.
  2. Your application will be sent to the faction leader, who will review it. You may be contacted in-game for more info.
  3. Soon enough you will receive an e-mail from the faction leader telling you whether you were successful or not.
  4. If you are successful you will be assigned to a crew, and the captain or first mate of that crew will track you down in-game and recruit you to the crew.
  5. If you haven’t done so already, register on the forums (with your character name) and you’ll be granted access to the Matrix section.
  6. Enjoy! Get to know your crew mates and start getting involved in faction activities.

Code of Conduct & Requirements

Here are some rules for your behaviour once you’re in the faction, and conditions you must meet before your application can be accepted. You can’t join us just for the sake of joining a faction – though admittedly having <The Glitch Society> over your head is something of a status symbol. We actually demand something of our members.

  1. You must be an active member. This means either getting involved with PvP or roleplaying in the faction and between factions.
  2. Engage in faction chat once in a while – don’t slink into a corner and stay silent!
  3. Try to be active in the forum as well, especially when it comes to roleplaying.
  4. Prepare a small article of yourself for the Web site roster.
  5. Rollcalls are once a month – reply to them in the forum as quickly as you can.
  6. If you know you are going to be absent from the forums and game for more than a week, say so in the forums.
  7. You must be 16 years or older, so we can be sure of a measure of maturity, and so no one in the faction feels uncomfortable.
  8. We don’t appreciate faction-hopping. If you join us, you join us for a considerable period of time.

Further guidelines as to behaviour and roleplaying are provided on the Guidelines page.

Application Form

The form is below. Answer all questions. Please use the ‘Extra notes’ box to tell us if there’s anyone in the faction you already know, or if you have any alternative characters and on which servers they reside.

‘Preferred game type’ is asking you what you think you’re more likely to want to do in the faction. RP (roleplaying) is preferred, but we do have a crew set aside for PvP (Player versus Player combat) as well which makes no demands of you with regards roleplaying. For ‘Profession’ enter what you normally are during missions, eg Proxy Technician, Arbalest or Team Patcher. ‘Age’ and ‘Gender’ are asking for your real life age and gender, not those of your character.
