I haven't prepared any guidelines for the Glitch-o-paedia (I just remembered we Brits spell it encyclopaedia), so I can't really say.

However, articles should definitely be in third person. I may ask for a particular format for certain articles (like characters, factions etc) but I haven't decided on one yet.

Don't write great big stories, though. Well, that is to say, describe your characters' past, but not a story that will appear somewhere else on the site (ie the forums and then the storyline area of the site).

As for lines... I really don't mind. The Glitch-o-paedia articles will be like Wikipedia in that they will be flexible. It's a chance for people to be creative, so I'll try not to set too many guidelines.

So what you are saying is that the bio I already wrote, that you tossed out because it was too big for my little post isn't going to work?

I never toss anything out. Razz

Anyway, if memory serves, your bio was a background story, which is fine. What I don't want is a summary of everything everyone has done thoughout their time in TGS on their bio pages, because that belongs in the storyline area.

It should work now (ie it accepts .php files as well as the usual image formats).

However, I'd advise anyone with rotating avatars to create a version of their script with the filename of a normal image (like .gif, .jpg or .png) for forums that restrict the use of scripts. Make yourself a special directory on your server which handles, say, .png files as PHP scripts. The forums won't be any the wiser.

I was looking around in old versions of the website and I'd find it useful to have something like this ship status on the mainpage.

Because I really got lost with all the new recruits when I came back.

I can't see anything on the page you linked to. Confused Could you describe it?

Edit: Scratch that, I can see it now. Had to load teh Flash file separately.

I don't see that it serves much purpose. Those numbers would be dependent on the members assigned to each crew, which can be seen by just looking at the roster.

It would be if the roster was up to date...

Yeah, well, the roster module would be complete if it weren't for my coursework.

I guess you can at least keep your own details up-to-date:

(Other people replace 'Gookin' with your name, as it appears in the roster.)

Why am I not surprised? Razz Well now you can edit the details of all crew in your ship (uh, though you specifically can manage all crew members, obviously, as can I). Just replace the 'Gookin' in the URL above with the member's name. The crew management pages are nearly finished so you'll be able to follow links instead.

The crew/member detail pages are again only temporary. Until the background systems are complete, they will be rather primitive. But when the systems are finished, the bios won't be entered using HTML anymore, and the images will be chosen from the proper image system (as opposed to just typing in the filename).

Remember, people voted that I finish the major features first, then do the background stuff, which will make everything easy. Not to mention pretty fucking advanced. Wink
