You are lucky i can't edit the roster any more _________________

I have a little suggestion for the forums:
Showing the crew position under the forum handle would be cool
Currently only captains have their position under their name, would be cool if this will be added for all members. _________________

True, it would be cool. However, at the moment the captains have their positions shown because I created a custom rank for them using phpBB. If everyone had their position shown, I'd have to assign such a label to each person individually. It's hard enough as it is keeping up with everyone's roles.
Naturally the ultimate plan would be to grab the details from GooRP automatically, but then we run into the problem of when one person has multiple characters. Maybe there's a 'default character' option I put in there and forgot about.
Don't worry, it'll happen eventually. Like most things, heheh. _________________

What about a field in the profiles? Then everyone could maintain it on their own
One drop down list with the ship and anothher drop down list with the crew position would prevent people from entering crap there _________________

*Ponders.*
H'mm. It's possible. But I'm gonna have to futz with the phpBB code either way, so I'd rather build the interface to GooRP than do something that'll get replaced later.
With the time I have, one needs to be selective with one's tasks.

^^^ I love this idea...
I think it might also help for each member to do a bio. I know we already have profiles in our HvCFT pages, but they are more like stories (good ones!) than informative descriptions, which I think would help a lot of us. And they would especially help outsiders (presuming they were viewable by the public). _________________ Aloha means goodbye! |

People will be able to have full pages of themselves in the Glitch-o-pedia (I'll, uh, think of a better name later). I won't bother making a separate system for just bios when normal pages/articles will do. _________________

I'm not suggesting a new system... just maybe a thread or a link to those "Glitch-o-pedia" pages from the roster page. I'm not trying to make extra work for you, here, Proc... I want the rest of the Glitchers to help you out a little, write their own bios, and give you something to work with when you start filing up those G-o-P entries! _________________ Aloha means goodbye! |

Maybe you (or d4sh, certainly) could give us an idea here of what exactly we must (or should ) include in a personal biography? Or, what's more, tell us what other specific content you'd like specific Glitchers to prepare in advance?
I'm sure there's already some people working on stuff, like the data repository on Singularity, but maybe there's other stuff we could prepare for you now that is less obvious. I'd suggest either posting this as a sticky somewhere, or perhaps PM'ing "assignments" to individuals. I personally am perfectly willing to help out with this stuff. _________________ Aloha means goodbye! |

What the other two said above. How much more information do you need from me. Blood type? girlfriends name in 7th grade? Blood type of girl friend in 7th grade?
How many lines do you want? what format do you want? |

I haven't prepared any guidelines for the Glitch-o-paedia (I just remembered we Brits spell it encyclopaedia), so I can't really say.
However, articles should definitely be in third person. I may ask for a particular format for certain articles (like characters, factions etc) but I haven't decided on one yet.
Don't write great big stories, though. Well, that is to say, describe your characters' past, but not a story that will appear somewhere else on the site (ie the forums and then the storyline area of the site).
As for lines... I really don't mind. The Glitch-o-paedia articles will be like Wikipedia in that they will be flexible. It's a chance for people to be creative, so I'll try not to set too many guidelines. _________________
