Yeah. It's tempting, but it's only a few extra FPS in the latest games. Wink

It'll last longer, though.

My Geforce Ti4800 has served me well the past... several years. I'm sure the XT will do just as well. Wink

you should overclock it.... although it can be disastrous if it works it amazing. I've got a 3.4ghz amd running bout 4.3ghz Twisted Evil its my 6th attempt but this one seems the most stable.

That card is a good one.

I really can't be arsed with any of that. I just want to put all the pieces together and start using it. It's bad enough that I'll be installing new fans. And if I have to even so much as tweak the memory timings I'll be pissed. Razz

I have a limited budget from my parents but this is what I have so far:

I-Cute Gaming Case with 350w PSU
2x 512MB 400MHz CL3 Memory
2x 160 GB HDD
ATI Radeon 9250 256MB Graphics card
DVDRW Drive
CDRW Drive
Creative Soundblaster Audigy 4 Soundcard
Pentium 4 Processor

Of course I have all the other stuff i.e motherboard, network card and all the cables etc.

That graphics card's a bit old. Confused It'll run MxO fine, I'm sure, but it doesn't have the right technologies for the latest games, so won't run them at all.

Go AMD. Razz They're cheaper in my experience. Oh, no, wait... didn't Intel just lower their prices recently?

Or if you want to stick with AGP (though if you're getting a new mobo you might as well go PCE-e), I'd recommend the ATI x1600 Pro. That's at least got the latest technologies, so you won't be limiting the games you can play. Smile

I changed my mind and decided i wanted to learn how to build a pc instead.
My parents are pretty much paying for the parts so i'm on a £500 budget, which is good. I think i'm at £390 at the moment but thats with all my software too.

Here's the final spec, which I've finally successfully ordered. (It took so long because of all sorts of financing issues I won't bore you with). I've lowered the specs a bit because my parents are daring the charge me rent while I've got a job! Mad

Athlon64 3500 (512KiB cache)
2GiB RAM
SoundBlaster Audigy SE 7.1
Sapphire x1900GT, 256MiB RAM, PCI-e
250GiB SATA hard drive (plus my current 160GiB IDE hard drive)
ThermalTake Tsunami Dream case (a sexy beast)
580W modular PSU

Plus the remote control, round IDE and floppy cables and assorted replacement fans and heatsinks.

I'm still happy with that GT graphics card. I don't mind having less RAM and slightly fewer pipelines than the XT, but it really had to be a x1900 series because they have four times the pipelines of the x1800 series, and as such will last much longer.

I still think that waiting another month would have been beneficial. Either from a power POW or a price one.
